Peugeot revealed the 5008 MPV (2010)

Peugeot has revealed its 5008 MPV (2010) that will make its world debut at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show and will be on the market during the autumn of 2009.

Peugeot 5008 MPV is designed to supply the need of compact people carriers. This compact five to seven seater people carrier offers a number of significant benefits that will enhance and strengthen Peugeot’s presence in the family car market. After the 308 SW and the recent 3008 crossover, the 5008, with a length of 4.53 m and a height of 1.64 m, is a natural extension to Peugeot’s current offerings in the M1 segment.

Peugeot will offer two petrol engines plus four diesel engines at the launch time. The two petrol engines consist of 120 bhp 1.6 litre VTi engine with 5-7.3 litres/100 km and 156 bhp 1.6 litre VTi with 5 -7.1 litres/100 km of fuel consumption. The four diesel engine start from 110 bhp 1.6 litre HDi engine with 5.4 litres/100 km to 163 bhp 2.0 litre HDi FAP engine with - 6.8 litres/100 km of fuel consumption.

The 2010 Peugeot 5008 MPV is equipped with enhancement on safety features, a high-tech multimedia and two satellite-navigation systems. More details in the press release below after the jump.

Toyota Prius (2010) sportier with Modellista pack

Toyota Prius hybrid (2010) has been released in Japan. According to the company their third-generation hybrid vehicle has made 80.000 orders. The Honda Insight’s strongest competitor is not only better in fuel consumption as Toyota has made amount refinement but also sportier as Toyota has released the styling package under Modellista brand. Amazingly the Modellista styling package will not change the Prius’s fuel consumption. It will be still 51mpg in the city, 48mpg on the highway and 50mpg for a combined cycle.

Modellista styling package for the Prius is available in three trims including the Aero Tourer, Version 1 and Version 2. The Aero Tourer is the sportiest version which is equipped with a custom front bumper, side skirts, and new exhaust tips. The other specs include a range of performance kits including lowered coil springs, a less restrictive muffler and 16in alloy wheels.

It is such as a perfect hybrid vehicle. Unfortunately the Japanese car has not been planned to hit the other market considering the limited availability of Modellista kits.

Toyota Prius (2010) already has 75.000 orders

Toyota Prius (2010) will be a serious competitor for Honda Insight hybrid as well as the Japanese company was reported by the Japanese Nikkei Business Daily having 75.000 orders for its second hybrid generation. Toyota Prius (2010) hybrid was introduced back in 2004, while the third generation Prius will be sell in Japan on May 18. Toyota has reduced its price to compete with the Honda Insight’s $19,180 price of entry which was confirmed as the first hybrid to ever top the Japanese sales chart in April with 10,481 units sold.

Toyota’s third generation of Prius hybrid (2010 model) offers 50mpg of fuel consumption from its all new 1.8-liter Atkinson-cycle, four-cylinder engine. It is better than Honda Insight’s fuel-economy rating of 40/43 mpg (city/highway). This engine is also 2 seconds faster than the previous generation. It hit 0-60 mph in just under 10 seconds (9.8).

Toyota Prius 2010 model year comes with amount refinement. One of these in term of safety equipment, Toyota Prius features Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), electronic traction control (TRAC) and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC).
