Ferrari 599XX more details released
Ferrari 599XX, more details and pictures have been released by the Italian supercar maker. The experimental car has made its debut at the last month’s Geneva Motor Show. Built based on the 599 GTB Fiorano, Ferrari 599XX is a display for Ferrari’s latest technologies from F1 or its self research.
Formula One’s KERS regenerative braking system will be also fitted to the Ferrari 599XX as a road going test car. But in the meantime, Ferrari’s engineers have started with a host of aerodynamic and engine modifications.
Improving the aerodynamic, Ferrari 599XX features little black winglets protrude from the C-pillars and the wheels integrate F1-style “donuts” to channel the air for optimized cooling and clean airflow.
The engine comes with a new Actiflow system featuring a porous diffuser and two fans in the trunk to channel the airflow for increased downforce at cornering speeds or reduced drag at higher speeds up to 617 pounds of downforce at 124 mph and 1,389 pounds at 186 mph. The engine has been modified on the engine’s combustion chambers and inlet and exhaust tracts to achieve the target power output of 700hp (522kW) at 9,000 rpm. This amazing engine will be perfect combined with the weight saving on the engine unit components. The engine is equipped with a new gearbox that reduces gear changes to just 60 milliseconds from the previous 100 milliseconds. There is also carbon fiber material for the body, the intake plenums and brake’s calipers.
Ferrari 599XX is the fastest road going car that Ferrari has ever produced. It hit Ferrari’s own Fiorano test track in 1 minute, 17 seconds.
